What exchange rate do you use?
We use a live market rate at the time the invoice is generated. You can see live KES/BTC exchange rates along with 36 other African currency pairs on our Bitcoin Currency Converter.
What if something goes wrong?
If the Bitcoin payment fails — which practically never happens — no harm, no foul. You still have your BTC and can simply try again. If the KES side of the transaction fails, reach out to us with your transaction details and we'll refund the BTC so you're made whole.
Can I send from outside Kenya?
That's sort of the whole point! Bitcoin is a global, neutral, digital asset accessible to anyone, anywhere. You could be on the moon — as long as your wallet can pay the Lightning invoice, the KES will land on earth in Kenya.
Do I get a receipt?
Yes! You'll get a Lightning receipt from your wallet as proof of Bitcoin payment. Once the transaction completes, you should also see a link in your wallet that provides the M-Pesa receipt.
